After designer Edwing D’Angelo’s triumphant presentation of his SS16 women’s and men’s collection titled “LIBERTÉ, ÉGALITE, MODERNITÉ” on Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:00 pm at the Colegio Nuevo Gimnasio in the chicest area of Bogota, in his native country of Colombia.   The presentation had 500+ attendees among them national and international celebrities, socialites, top tier press, magazine editors and fashionistas. “Presenting in Latin America is part of our international growth strategy as a brand, emerging markets are the future of fashion” says D’Angelo.

Edwing D’Angelo was invited by Henkel in association with USAID to be part of the SomosColor runway and #rutadelainclusion, which is a national campaign to promote social, political and economical equality to AfroColombians and indigineous people. “I was so excited when I got the invitation and it was natural for me to be part of it because I am a black Colombian and this campaign is music to my heart. …Giving back to my community is a moral priority to me. I designed the collection inspired by the color palette of the High Power Browns of Schwartzkopt which were also launched during the presentation,” adds D’Angelo.

The show opened with supermodel, Sessile Lopez, who was invited by the fashion designer as his international muse and styled by the one and only fashion stylist/editor Memsor Kamarake, whom were two of the international guests who accompanied D’Angelo. There was a live performance during the show by the sensational Grammy nominee Latin band Chocquitown.  After the show, the whole team traveled to the Atlantic coastal city of Cartagena de India, where they met 150 AfroColombians youth students, from the project ACCESO which is in part sponsored by the Clinton Foundation and USAID. D’Angelo, Sessile, Memsor, artist Ryan B. Anthony and Marielle Bobo of Ebony magazine had the opportunity to give them a moving and emotional chat of empowerment, “I’m one of you, I know how it feels to live in need…” opened D’Angelo.

Edwing D’Angelo’s Spring 2013 Presentation SWEET DREAMS (swimwear) – Part II

In Video by dangelo@edwingdangelo.com / October 6, 2012 / 0 Comments

The starting point in Edwing D’Angelo’s Spring 2013 presentation continues
his search for the ultimate tailored collection, where the line between
the masculine and feminine are intertwined so closely that it is difficult
to define if it is made for her or for him, not to disappear, but keeping
each gender strong in its own traditional aesthetics. In this latest
presentation, D’Angelo gets a little bit more playful, bringing elements
of urban street wear into the mix, call it “Street Couture” if you will.
D’Angelo proposes that women wear clothing with men’s fabrics and men wear
clothing with women’s traditional detailing such as French lace trimmings
and jumpsuits with superb cuts.

Keeping with the Edwing D’Angelo tradition, the collection offers a twist
with an “eye candy” elements. The production is inspired by Candy Land,
that beautiful childhood place with colorful indulgence of sweets and
goodies. The venue is converted into a veritable candy factory to wow the
audience. Guests of a D’Angelo’s show have come to expect nothing less
from the designer. So…. Prepared to be enchanted!
