The newspaper visited the designer in NYC to talk about his upcoming visit to Colombia.
Edwing D’Angelo was invited by Henkel in association with USAID to be part of the SomosColor runway and #rutadelainclusion, which is a national campaign to promote social, political and economical equality to AfroColombians and indigineous people. “I was so excited when I got the invitation and it was natural for me to be part of it because I am a black Colombian and this campaign is music to my heart. …Giving back to my community is a moral priority to me. I designed the collection inspired by the color palette of the High Power Browns of Schwartzkopt which were also launched during the presentation,” adds D’Angelo.
The show opened with supermodel, Sessile Lopez, who was invited by the fashion designer as his international muse and styled by the one and only fashion stylist/editor Memsor Kamarake, whom were two of the international guests who accompanied D’Angelo. There was a live performance during the show by the sensational Grammy nominee Latin band Chocquitown.
